SGEU members at Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) secure tentative agreement

December 20, 2019

SGEU’s bargaining committee at the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) has reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement.

The bargaining unit has been without a contract since September 30, 2016.

“It was a long and challenging round of negotiations but we’re pleased we were able to make some gains with this contract,” said Alan Evans, chair of the SCIC bargaining committee. “Our members work hard to support the many programs SCIC offers across the province, and we are proud of our efforts in keeping the corporation financially sound while supporting the changing needs of agricultural producers.”

The new agreement covers approximately 400 members in 21 offices across Saskatchewan plus the head office in Melville, and is in line with recent provincial agreements that have been ratified in the last few months.

Members will receive information about the tentative agreement in early January 2020 and will vote by mail-in ballot on whether or not to accept the contract. Details of the agreement will not be released publicly until the ratification process is complete.
