SGEU Public Service members vote to accept PS/GE Memorandum of Agreement

November 8, 2019

In ratification votes held from October 7 to November 6, members of SGEU’s Public Service/Government Employment (PS/GE) Bargaining Unit accepted a Memorandum of Agreement reached late this summer with the Government of Saskatchewan. Almost 70 per cent of members voted in favour.

“We are pleased that a majority of members voted to accept this tentative agreement,” says Acting Chair of the PS/GE Negotiating Committee Lori Bossaer.

Representatives of the Negotiating Committee will now work with the Employer to finalize and sign the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the term of which expires on September 30, 2022. Information about retroactive pay and other operational details of the agreement will be provided to members as soon as they become available.

“SGEU is proud to represent members of the public service who provide vital services to Saskatchewan residents in every corner of our province,” says Bossaer. “We will continue to push for improvements in our members’ workplaces to ensure they are able to continue providing the level of excellence that our public service is known for.”

“I’d like to thank our members for their patience, support, and input over the course of this lengthy negotiation process,” adds Bossaer. “I’d also like to thank the negotiating committee and staff who were involved in the negotiating process, for their time and commitment over the last several years.”

The PS/GE collective agreement covers approximately 11,000 members, including those who work as highway traffic officers and equipment operators, parks staff, corrections officers, conservation officers, social workers, finance auditors, clerical and administrative staff and many others.
