WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Disability Claims Analyst plays an important role analyzing claims and reporting information to enhance the claim experience for members from initial injury/illness disclosure, to claim closures. The Claims Analyst supports the evaluation, processing, and settling of claims as well as holistic case management practices designed to support members' overall well-being and needs. This role will support leveraging data to drive insights and streamline processes in support of the Long-Term Disability Plan and support services for members.
WHO YOU ARE
Candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in disability management, social work, vocational rehabilitation, human justice, psychology, or related human sciences field. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of 3 years in roles primarily focused on claims and/or case management administration and analytics role.
- A recognized credential in occupational therapy, rehabilitation (eg - CDMP, CRTW, CVRP), an asset.
- Advanced analytical skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills demonstrated through claims or case management work.
- Proficiency with databases and working in an automated office environment using most features of Microsoft Office 365 such as: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and TEAMS. Candidates must be able to demonstrate advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with process mapping and developing standard operating procedures to reflect work processes, strategic alignment, and enhancing member experiences is required.
- Demonstrated record of strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate and unravel complex work processes into actionable insights.
- Integrity and ethical conduct in confidential matters is required.
Candidates will have the following primary duties and the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete them:
- Review disability claims to ensure service standards and best practices are met, recommending case management strategies in collaboration with internal staff and third-party adjudicators.
- Research and analyze internal and external data to produce reports, dashboards, and forecasts on claim trends and recovery benchmarks.
- Coordinate and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for disability management and Health & Welfare Trust programs, ensuring a member-centric approach.
- Support information collection, administration, and communication of Health & Welfare Trust programs, including health, dental, and life insurance for members.
- Provide training to team members and other departments on SOPs, claim processes, and disability data management tools (e.g., Unionware).
- Collaborate across departments to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate disability records, statistics, and standardized documentation to support effective reporting and governance.
- Leverage relationships with benefit providers to identify trends and opportunities for improved disability management practices.

HOURS OF WORK & TRAVEL
Headquartered in Regina, SK, this term position is designated as field staff and work 144 hours in a four-week averaging period during SGEU’s hours of operation 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Vocational Rehabilitation Officers may be required to travel with overnight stays which can vary based on caseload.
