REGINA, SK - Plannera Pensions & Benefits and the Saskatchewan Government & General Employees’ Union (SGEU) announced today that the membership of SGEU has ratified a new collective agreement with respect to Plannera’s in-scope employees.
Plannera President and CEO Jeremy Phillips said the agreement completes a milestone in the organization’s evolution from a government agency to a not-for-profit corporation. “I want to thank both negotiating teams for their hard work and look forward to growing together with a supportive partner in SGEU. Our mandate is to deliver innovative and industry-leading pension and benefit services in support of a secure financial future for our plan members,” said Phillips. He added that the new collective agreement has been created to support that mandate by establishing clear, fair, and flexible terms and conditions of employment. “We and the SGEU are committed to a people-centered workplace where employees are treated with respect, supported in their work and given opportunities to grow and contribute.”
Phillips further emphasized that Plannera is also committed to being member-focused, recognizing that the work of employees directly supports the experience, trust, and long-term outcomes of its members.
“This agreement represents meaningful progress and provides a foundation for continued improvements in the future,” said Alyssa Johnson, SGEU Bargaining Chair. “What I'm most proud of from this process is how engaged our members were every step of the way. Their participation, questions, feedback, and support helped shape the outcome and strengthen our workplace.”
The new three-and-a-half-year agreement ends March 31, 2029, and provides for a retroactive payment from October 4, 2025 (3% market adjustment plus a new classification plan allocation of 5%) ; a base pay compensation program based on annual employee individual performance and a market survey of sector peers. Members are also participants in a new innovative variable pay program for both in-scope and out-of-scope employees which provides for annual lump-sum payments contingent on corporate performance measures and key performance indicators combined with individual employee performance.
