In 1992, the Government of Canada designated October as Women’s History Month, marking the beginning of an annual celebration of the outstanding achievements of women and girls throughout Canada’s history.
It is celebrated in October to coincide with Persons Day on October 18, which established some women as persons under the law and eligible to join in the Senate of Canada.
This month serves as an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the accomplishments of women while continuing to advance equality.
