January is Tamil Heritage Month, where we celebrate the histories and accomplishments of Tamil Canadians. Tamil Canadians have made extraordinary contributions from politics to health, sports, business and other fields and continue to enrich our society.

January celebrates Tamil Heritage Month in light of the festival of Pongal, the most important festival amongst Tamils which also marks the start of the month of Thai in the Tamil Solar Calendar and falls in the middle of January.
