May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples.
A red dress is used to mark the day, as red is believed to be the only colour spirits can see, and it calls the spirits of those who are missing and murdered back to their loved ones.
Red Dress Day was established in 2010 by after artist Jaime Black launched her continuing REDress art installation.
