April 28 is a significant day for the labour movement and for all workers. It is a time to remember those who have been killed, injured, or made ill because of their work, and to recommit ourselves to creating safer workplaces for everyone.
Each year, workers, families and communities come together across Canada to mark the National Day of Mourning. As we honour the lives lost, SGEU stands with unions across the country to fight for the living by demanding stronger workplace protections, better enforcement, and meaningful action to prevent future tragedies.
We encourage all members to pause, reflect and renew our shared commitment to health and safety in every workplace.
