Domestic violence and the workplace

Jo-Anne Dusel from the Provincial Association of Transition Houses and Services of Saskatchewan addressed Convention and spoke about the various ways survivors of domestic violence are affected in their workplaces.

Dusel spoke about the need to bring about legislation that provides paid leave and supports for victims of domestic violence. Such legislation was recently enacted in Manitoba.

Dusel also invited delegates to attend a workshop called "make it our business" which provides tools for workers to recognize signs of abuse on victims in the workplace and how to support these victims. The workshop will be put on May 19th and 20th.

The SGEU Women's Committee collected toiletries over the weekend and presented them to PATHS for the women at the shelters.
