CORRECTIONAL SERVICES APPRECIATION DAY

REGINA – The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 7th Correctional Services Appreciation day. This is an opportunity for us all to recognize the important role corrections officers, youth workers and probation officers play in our communities.

The special circumstances caused by the current pandemic and the unique challenges faced in our correctional facilities make today all the more important to recognize the skill and dedication corrections staff bring to their work.

Corrections workers keep staff and inmates safe and are also first responders who are often called upon to provide first aid, counselling, and deal with trauma in sensitive and sometimes highly charged environments. The service they provide to Saskatchewan is essential to our community’s well being each and every day.

On this day of recognition, and every day, corrections workers have our thanks and our commitment that we will continue to fight for their rights to safe and secure working environment.
