Local 1101 Scholarship Information

Local 1101 offers scholarships to members. The details about each scholarship can be found below.

The information about how to apply and the deadlines are the same for each scholarship. Members who have previously been awarded an SGEU scholarship or bursary in the previous four years are not eligible to apply.

Application deadline: July 31 at 5 PM

How to apply

  • Obtain an application form from your Chief Steward or Steward. Or download Local 1101 Scholarship Application.
  • Complete all section sof application forms.
  • Provide all necessary documentation requested to support your application.
  • Mail your application to: Muna DeCiman, 35 Marsh Crescent, Regina, SK S4S 5R3

Note: Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Applications cannot be emailed. Any emailed applications will not be accepted.

Successful applicants will be telephoned and announced at the September Local 1101 General Membership Meeting (first Wednesday in September) at the SGEU building.

Keith Jackson Memorial Scholarship

Local 1101 is offering one $2000 scholarship to members in good standing, their child(ren) and/or dependants enrolled in a post-secondary technical/educational institution in the academic year on a part-time basis (taking one to three classes).

The award will be based on:

  • Part-time bases (One to three classes)
  • Financial need
  • Seniority date (highest seniority date of either part or child or dependant)
  • Participation in union activities

Anna Mnushkin Memorial Scholarship

A $2000 scholarship will be offered to a member in good standing, their child(ren) and/or dependants of one of the equity-seeking groups (Indigenous, workers with disabilities, visible minorities, gay/lesbian, two-spirited, bisexual, transgender, women, and youth). Applicants must self-declare on the application form which group they identify with.

Teh scholarhsip is open to all Local 1101 Public Service (PS/GE) members, child(ren) and/or dependants enrolled in a post-secondary technical/educational institution in the academic year.

The award will be based on:

  • Equity
  • Minimum of three classes or 60% for technical institutions
  • Seniority date (highest seniority date of either part or child or dependant)

John Wolkowski Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship proivdes $2000 to a member in good standing of Local 1101 or their child(ren) and/or dependants who are enrolled as a full-time student in post-secondary technical/educational institution in the academic year.

The award will be based on:

  • Full-time student status
  • Financial need
  • Union activity
  • Seniority date (highest seniority date of either part or child or dependant)
