SGEU donates $50,000 to Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU) has gifted a sizeable donation to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, the fundraising partner of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA). The funds will be split evenly between supporting the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge Renewal Campaign, and helping provide the Saskatoon Cancer Centre with a new 4D CT Simulator that can assess more detailed information on organ anatomy during respiration.

“Cancer touches everybody, including our members, many of whom work at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency,” said SGEU acting president Roseann Strelezki. “SGEU believes in supporting our members and the meaningful work they do throughout Saskatchewan.”

Trent Edwards, SGEU’s Saskatchewan Cancer Agency bargaining unit chair, says that “SGEU members who work at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency care deeply about our patients and we hope this donation helps provide support for those dealing with a cancer diagnosis and their families..”

SGEU represents over 20,000 members who work across the province in health care, education, Crown Corporations, the provincial government public service, community services and liquor retail and distribution.
