Archive News Releases 27 Feb 07 SGEU disgusted with Carriere settlement News that government settled out of court with Murdoch Carriere and provided a $275,000 payment plus pension repayment options was greeted with outrage and dismay at SGEU. 21 Feb 07 SIAST Academic members reach tentative agreement After seven days and nights of negotiations, SIAST Academic staff and management reached a tentative agreement shortly after 3:00 p.m. today. 15 Feb 07 SIAST Professional Services Unit gets strike mandate Members of the SIAST Professional Services Bargaining Unit voted 87% in favour of strike action yesterday. 2 Feb 07 Striking workers return to work SGEU and the government reached agreement today for the orderly return-to-work for the 1,340 members on the picket lines. The return-to-work agreement brings an end to the 44 day strike which saw workers from Corrections, Environment, Justice, SPM, Finance and Highways off the job. 31 Jan 07 SGEU accepts Ready’s recommendations SGEU announced today that it accepts Vince Ready's recommendations and will take those recommendations to the membership for a vote. 29 Jan 07 Union asks to meet with government SGEU has asked to meet with government to discuss Vince Ready’s recommendations. 10 Jan 07 SIAST Woodland Campus An information picket at Woodland Campus in Prince Albert took place at noon today to highlight the lack of progress in contract talks. 9 Jan 07 Labour unrest at SIAST SGEU members of the SIAST academic bargaining unit held an information picket in Saskatoon Tuesday to highlight stalled contract talks. A key concern at the bargaining table is enhancing wages and pension benefits to ensure recruitment and retention of instructors. 7 Jan 07 More Highway crews off the job Snow plow operators and supervisors in 40 more locations, this time in southern Saskatchewan, will join their striking co-workers on the picket line at midnight tonight. 6 Jan 07 Highway crews off the job Snow plow operators and supervisors in 22 locations in north central Saskatchewan will walk off the job at midnight tonight. 5 Jan 07 More workers off the job The SGEU strike escalated today with more workers walking off the job. Joining Corrections workers on the picket line are government workers in the Enforcement Centre in Prince Albert. 22 Dec 06 Contract talks break off Talks between the Public Service/Government Employment (PS/GE) Bargaining Unit and government broke off late yesterday, December 21st, with little progress made at the table.
