SIAST Professional Services bargaining unit signs new contract - June 15, 2012

The SIAST Professional Services Bargaining Unit signed a new contract with the employer on June 14, 2012, after 36 long months of bargaining.

A lot of the contract language was changed to clarify terms and conditions for members.

As far as monetary changes, a 5.5% salary increase over 3 years, along with an additional 1% to suit the Western Canadian Average was agreed upon. An additional .25% on pensions and a new personal spending flex account were also implemented.

This brings closure one of the longest and most difficult rounds of bargaining in the history of SIAST.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement is in effect from 2009-2012.

SGEU hopes the employer will meet the union's goal of having retroactive pay cheques in the hands of employees before the end of the month.
