Dear SGEU members, staff and volunteers:
It is with great honour that I have stood alongside of you as your president for the past ten years, and will continue to do so again this term.
I would like to thank the elected representatives, staff, and volunteers, for their hard work and dedication to this organization.
Without them, our organization wouldn’t be able to offer the vast range of services and ongoing support to our members.
Many life-long friendships were built and renewed at this year’s annual SGEU convention in Prince Albert. Almost a third of our convention consisted of first-time delegates; some of who were youth delegates under the age of 30.
We encourage and look forward to bringing in more youth in the future and celebrating our life members.
With convention there is renewal, and a renewed commitment on behalf of our organization to be the social conscience of this province, and to promote the public services that make this province one of the best places to live.
A special thank-you goes to Bryan Skogberg, member of the Retail & Regulatory sector, who stood as the sector VP for the past ten years. The advocacy and awareness Bryan has brought to us throughout the years is invaluable.
I would also like to thank Tina Vuckovic, who is also a member from the Retail & Regulatory sector, for her role as SFL VP these past two years. Tina's efforts in various labour relations campaigns has tremendously helped to spread the word about fair taxation and the services SGEU members provide.
Going forward, it is important that we continue to stand strong together and make a positive difference on issues that affect workers' rights.
The government continues to cut our public services and cut corporate taxes. This austerity program only serves the wealthy and doesn’t help our economy.
With the help and support of our membership, we will continue to challenge this government and protect our rights as workers and as citizens.
In Solidarity,

Bob Bymoen
